APWA AccreditationThe Public Works Department utilizes a skilled, engaged workforce to enhance the quality of life for Charlotte County residents by continually improving infrastructure and providing services in a cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the community.

The Public Works Department builds and maintains roadways, bridges, navigable waterways, stormwater infrastructure, traffic lights and signs, rights-of-ways and landscaping in unincorporated areas of Charlotte County while protecting and preserving the environment.

The Department further provides solid waste management including curbside service and operation of the landfill, manages mosquito and aquatic weed control programs and operates the Indian Spring and Lieutenant Carl Bailey Cemeteries.

Road Closure on Navajo Lane between Lion Terrace and Midway Boulevard Jan. 21 & 22

Navajo Lane between Lion Terrace and Midway Boulevard will be closed on Jan. 21 & 22 from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. This section of the road will be open to local traffic only during this time. This closure is to repair a damaged pipe and two catch basins.

Charlotte County Public Works has scheduled a Coastal Storm Risk Management public meeting on Jan. 22. The meeting will be available in two formats:

  • Virtual meeting will be 1-2 p.m. Join online at www.tinyurl.com/CSRMMeeting.
  • In-person meeting will be held 5-6 p.m. at the Mac V. Horton West County Annex, 6868 San Casa Drive, Englewood.
